She’d brought this on herself and she knew it. “Here’s what’s goin’ to happen: you’re gonna get out of that tub right now and dry off. Then you’re goin’ straight to your room to stand in the corner.”
Scarlett offered a feeble nod.
“Now.”

My mind shouted at me as I allowed myself to be pulled to my feet. I sidled up next to him and right before we began to make our way to the dance floor I felt his hand come down once, sharply, on the center of my ass. With a startled gasp, I turned toward him, waiting expectantly, but he’d already begun walking toward the other dancers and pulling me along as though nothing had happened.

Good morning, all, and thank you for dropping by! This weekend I have an excerpt from my latest book, "Kidnapped and Claimed." In it, Duchess Cecily is taken from her childhood home under the cover of night for reasons she doesn't understand. Though she tries to resist him, Antony overcomes her every objection until she sees that maybe being captured was a blessing in disguise.


          “Firstly, I want you to know that I intend to keep you safe. I know that might be hard for you to believe, considering the manner in which we met, but I speak the truth. I have no desire to harm you, and intend to protect you from those that would.”

            I had so many questions, so many things to that rose to the tip of my tongue, but I swallowed each of them back, waiting patiently for him to finish.

            The word went through me like a shot, making me freeze. Consequences. How did it sound so frightening on his lips, and yet…yet, my bosom heaved in a way that I could not understand.

            “Sometimes, those consequences could entail you finding yourself in danger, as you were today. To prevent this from happening again, your consequence for disobeying me will be a sound spanking.”

He leaned forward and captured my lips with his own; the kiss started soft and turned insistent within the space of mere heartbeats.

         Stop, one side of me protested, just as the other said, don’t stop. I didn’t know what I wanted, except to feel like this, the way I felt with him—safe, loved, whole. Before rationale could get in the way, I found myself kissing him back, sliding my tongue into his mouth to merge with his own. As the kiss deepened, he slid his arms around me, hauling me on to his lap. I went willingly, putting a hand to his broad, firm chest as we made up for lost time.
