"Mona's Second Chance" 8/31

Sorry to change track on you--I know, again!!--but I hope you'll be as excited to see Mona and Colby back as I am! If you like this snippet don't forget to get your copy of "Mona's Second Chance" available TODAY at Blushing Books!
Mona and Colby have been divorced over a year now, and try as she might, she can't keep from dreaming about a life with him still in it. Since she knows that will never happen, Mona tries to move on.
Fate--or stupid mistakes on her part--bring them back together. Mona is mystified and shocked by Colby's threat to spank her, yet strangely excited. Could this be the second chance she was looking for?

To set the stage for this snippet, Mona has once again called Colby to come to her rescue. She has neglected to get gas after he gave her some last time--when will she learn?

"Where are we going?” My voice was very subdued and meek. Face to face with his wrath, I no longer felt brave enough to put on continue using the smart ass tone I’d had when I was on the phone with him.

“To get your gas. Remember?”

“I, um, you didn’t bring it with you?”

“What, am I supposed to pay for your gas now?”

“I wasn’t saying that, I just—”

“Come on, Mona. I don’t have time for this.” He was tapping his foot, and I could tell he was getting impatient.

The thing was, I was not sure I wanted to get in a car alone with him. He didn’t know that I still had feelings for him--how could I have feelings for him even now, after he had been so snappish with me, when he was clearly about to lose it on me? I didn’t know how I could, but it didn’t change the fact that I did. Just the sight of him set my heart to fluttering, and it
wasn’t something I wanted him to know. I didn’t want him to laugh at me, or God
forbid, pity me.

“You know, you really didn’t have to come all this way.”

“OK, you know what? If you want to stay here, stranded, go right ahead. I’m not going to try to tell you what to do.”

You never listened anyway. I heard the meaning underneath the words, even though, to his
credit, he didn’t say them.

I apologize for going over this week! Hope you enjoyed it, though, and I hope you get a chance to read more about Mona and Colby! Let me know what you think!

"A Husband's Duty" 08/24

Hey guys! I want to welcome you all to another tantalizing edition of Saturday Spanks, and thank you for joining me again this week. As some of you may know, Mona and Colby have been in the spotlight for the last few weeks. I am going to be shifting gears for a time, and be giving you exciting snippets from my upcoming novel, "A Husband's Duty" which will be out by the second week of September! I am very excited about this story, and hope you all will be, too!

Jessica and Beth are sisters that were often mistaken for identical twins while growing up, despite their age difference. Their looks are the only thing they have in common--they have barely spoken to each other in years.
To set the stage for this excerpt, Jonathon, Jessica's husband, has discovered that his wife has way overshot the budget that he set, and he is not happy with her at all. Let's listen in.

“Do you know why I called you in here?”
“Not a clue,” I said with a grin, hoping I’d see him smile back at me. Instead, his mouth stayed dourly down-turned.
“Then let me enlighten you,” he said, narrowing his eyes. “I came in here to balance our checkbook. I discovered that you have been going over budget again, Jessica.”
A lump had formed in my throat at “checkbook” and was formed solid by my anxiety.
The furrow in his brow deepened. “Now do you understand why I called you in here?”
“Yes, Sir,” I admitted, already tearing up. I hated to upset Jonathon. His disappointment in me far outweighed the pain of any discipline he administered--although, tragically, that did not keep him from still carrying through with it.

Please join us next week to see Jessica's fate--will she be let off the hook, or will her husband carry through on that punishment she's dreading?
Be sure to check out some fantastic excerpts below! And happy spankings to each of you!

To continue our story, in an effort to get her ex-husband out of her mind, Mona tries online dating with disastrous results. The guy she agrees to meet is six years her junior, and not at all what she expected. Worse yet, while at Starbucks they run into Colby, who has plenty say about her date. Mona accuses him of being rude, and below is our snippet:

He glared at me, and I couldn’t help but jump when he smacked his hand down on our table. I wondered if he wished he was smacking it against my bottom instead. “I’m not sorry for anything. Except maybe the fact that you’re having such a hard time finding someone your own age to date.”

“He’s twenty-one--almost twenty-one!” I hissed through my teeth. “He’s not that young!”

“Of course not,” he retorted, but the way he said it made my nostrils flare.

“I don’t care what you think! What I do isn’t any of your concern, I don’t owe you any explanations.”

“Then stop explaining,” he shot back, nonplused. With a smirk, he nodded at me and then headed for the door, unaffected by anything I’d had to say, per usual.

Mona may think he's unaffected, but I'm not convinced. What about you?
Please let me know what you think of the excerpt and be sure to look for "Mona's Second Chance" coming to Blushing in September!

A recap of where we left off: Mona's car stalled, and she automatically called her ex-husband Colby to come to her rescue. When he did, he discovered that she was out of gas. He was very frustrated at having his time wasted and promised her a spanking if she did it again. Here, Mona discusses her feelings with her friend Sara. Hint: "you know" means spanking. :)

“You should make something up, call him again and—”
“Whoa!” I held my hands out. “Hold it right there. That is definitely not going to
happen.”
“Why not?”
So help me God, she actually sounded like she couldn’t imagine what was wrong with her fail-proof plan. “Why? Because I don’t want to know if he would...you know.”
She nodded, looking too smug for my liking. “Yeah? There isn’t there even the tiniest bit of you that wonders what it’d be like?”
“No, thank you.”
“If you’re sure. But spanking or no spanking, it’s obvious that Colby still cares about you.” She sounded so convinced that I wished I could borrow some of that conviction for myself, because I could definitely use it.

Look for "Mona's Second Chance" coming to an online store near you in September!

"Mona's Second Chance" Saturday Spanks 08/03

In the last excerpt, Mona has called her ex-husband Colby to rescue her when her car won't start. Here is the continuation.

“Damn it, Mona!” he groaned, and I instantly knew that he’d solved the problem, Sherlock that he was. At least when it came to cars.
“What? What is it?”
“You’re out of gas!”
“What? Really?” I looked down at the fuel gauge, and sure enough, the arrow was hovering well below the E. “Oh.” The word came out as an embarrassed whisper.
“Oh,"  he repeated, in a tone of voice that was less than kind. “You’re too old to be making stupid mistakes like this, Mona. I swear, if you were my daughter you’d be over my knee right now! And you will be if you ever waste my time like this again!”

Who believes him? If you enjoyed this snippet, keep coming back for more and look for "Mona's Second Chance" releasing in September!
